SAN DIEGO (July 19, 2016) – Councilmember Alvarez has issued the following statement in response to the City Council’s approval today of the Plastic Bag Reduction Ordinance:

“Reducing the number of single use plastic bags that too often end up polluting our beaches, bays, parks and open spaces is the responsible thing to do in order to preserve our environment for future generations.  I would also like to thank the large grocery and retail stores throughout the City for supporting our effort to protect the environment.”
