The City of San Diego’s Park and Recreation Department will open the restored Villa Montezuma Museum for tours of the interior of this historic site. The Friends of the Villa Montezuma, Inc., will provide the tours.
Who: City of San Diego, Park & Recreation Department and Friends of the Villa Montezuma, Inc.
What: Free interior tours of the museum with registration on the City’s website at www.SDRecConnect.com. The museum was closed for restoration for nine years. The City had a “soft” reopening on June 27, 2015. The public is invited to register and attend this event on January 9, 2016. This historic site is not ADA accessible.
When: Saturday, January 9th with the first tour at 9AM and tours on the half-hour through noon.
Where: Villa Montezuma Museum – 1925 K Street (corner of 20th & K St.), Sherman Heights Historic District in Council District 8.
Why: A Community Development Block Grant of $882,000 funded this restoration. Per the terms of the federal grant, for the next five years, the City will open the museum once per quarter to the public at no charge.
